## How it works

AlternativeTo lists apps as alternatives to other apps. When someone searches "alternative to [big app]", your product can appear on that app's page.

Listing is free. Your account must be at least 7 days old before you can add an app. Every new app is reviewed, and the free queue can take months. Some guides report a small one-time fee (about $5) for faster review.

## Good fit if

- Products that replace a well-known app
- Steady traffic from people ready to switch

## Skip it if

- You need results this week. Reviews can take months

## Prepare before you start

- [ ] An AlternativeTo account, at least 7 days old
- [ ] Name, website and description
- [ ] Platforms (web, Windows, Mac, iOS, Android…)
- [ ] License (free, freemium, paid, open source)
- [ ] Tags
- [ ] A list of well-known apps yours replaces

## Step by step

1. **Create your account now.** Sign up today. You must wait 7 days before you can add an app.
2. **Suggest your app.** Click your user icon (top right) and choose "Suggest new application". Fill in platforms, license, description and tags, then submit.
3. **Add it as an alternative.** Once approved, mark your app as an alternative to the well-known apps it replaces. That is where the traffic comes from.

## Rules (break these and your launch gets removed or ignored)
